Plitvice Lakes National Park welcomes visitors year-round, with varied hours depending on the season.

Spring (April to May): 7 AM to 7 PM

Summer (June-September): 7 AM to 8 PM

Autumn (September to October): 7 AM to 7 PM

Winter (November to March): 8 AM to 4 PM

Important: During the colder months, many hospitality facilities are closed, with accommodation only available in Hotel Jezero. The Upper Lakes are also closed in winter for safety reasons.

Duration: It is recommended to allow at least 5 hours to explore the park.

Entrances: Plitvice Lakes National Park has two entrances, the Entrance 1 (North) and the Entrance 2 (South). If you purchase an entry ticket without transportation and plan to arrive independently, ensure you verify the entrance ticket you bought and drive to the corresponding entrance.

By Car:
Plitvice Lakes is easily reached by car from Zagreb and Karlovac. Parking is available at P1 (largest, Entrance 1), P2, and P3 (Entrance 2).

By Bus: Reach the Park by intercity buses from Zagreb, Split, or Zadar via E65, E71, and D1 highways. To travel from Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes by bus, board the “Plitvice” buses at Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor bus terminal. Trips take 2-3 hours; departures from Zagreb Glavni Kolodvor. You can check the current bus schedule on the official website.

It’s important to note that the park is not entirely wheelchair accessible. Some park areas may pose challenges for navigation, and visitors with mobility considerations should plan accordingly.

There are several restaurants inside and around Plitvice Lakes National Park, providing convenient spots to rest and recharge.

There are three paid parking areas at the entrances of the park: 

P1 – Largest parking lot, located near Entrance 1.

P2 – Smaller lot, also close to Entrance 1.

P3 – Conveniently located near Entrance 2.

Keep Entry Tickets: Entry tickets must be kept with you until you exit the park. Be sure to bring a valid photo ID. 

Trails: Wandering off the marked walking paths is prohibited for visitor safety and to protect the park’s unique landscape.

No Swimming or Fishing: Swimming and fishing are strictly prohibited to maintain water quality and safeguard aquatic life.

No Feeding Wildlife: Refrain from feeding any wildlife to preserve their natural behaviors and prevent ecological imbalance.

Don’t Disturb the Animals: Allow wildlife to thrive undisturbed.

No Littering: Dispose of waste in designated bins. Keep the park pristine by avoiding littering and respecting the environment.

No Smoking in Restricted Areas: Smoking is prohibited in certain areas due to fire safety concerns. Respect designated smoking zones and follow park regulations.

No Collecting Plants: Collecting plant materials or souvenirs of natural origin is strictly prohibited.
